Indian Hawthorn Clara is an evergreen staple in many western gardens.
A tidy 5’ tall and wide rounded shrub that bears numerous flowers in the spring, the flower buds are pink, turning white as they open. The leaves emerge red but fade to dark green with age.
Native to China, it soaks up sunshine but will be fine in partial shade too. Considered drought tolerant, it will do very well with moderate to light water, depending on exposure and climate.
Best in Sunset Western Garden zones 8-10 and 12-24, this Indian Hawthorn seems happy inland or at the coast.
